Feeling Better - A Little Bit

George decided to go to the party after a 3 hour nap yesterday. When we got there I wasn't sure he was going to make it - he wouldn't play any of the games and was clingy. But, we went to bed early and aside from a 6 AM cry about his throat being sore, he's feeling better. Asked for oatmeal and is watching his Sponge Bob program on his InteracTV DVD (Christmas present). He's making silly robots with jelly fish bodies and starfish heads and keeping Estelle entertained.

The guys will plan to get a haircut today. That means they go out for lunch together so Estelle wants to go too.

The DVD is now switched to Toy Story. George is keeping an eye out for Mr. Potato Head. Think he is taking after John?

We'll see if we make it out tonight - options include out for dinner to celebrate John's birthday tomorrow, a movie, and a couple of parties that aren't really kid-friendly but we could bring them.

George

Miss Gayla called from school and said George was complaining of a headache and was running a fever. I got there and had to wake him up to take him home. As I'm looking at him I'm also noticing his right eyelid has a bruise - I think he got it running into a door at home since he complained about it the other night and asked for a cold washcloth to hold on it. Sheesh!

He's probably going to miss his friend's birthday party this evening but I told him I'd bring him some pizza. This kid likes Buzz Lightyear almost as much as Estelle does. George was thinking if he woke up and felt a little better he could watch "Postcards from Buster" on PBS. It is a travel show through the eyes of a cartoon character (who is otherwise on Arthur in the mornings).

We did get invited to next-door neighbors for a New Year's Eve party but we'll have to see how George is feeling and how thrilled (or not) John is about it. By the way, his new overalls in the bigger size fit great!

Yoga

Estelle has been enjoying yoga class in December. She'll take it again in January. Monday afternoons when Anna picks her up from school, and it is in the neighborhood. That's Sydney on her right. Downward dog is her favorite pose. She says it is very relaxing and helps her with her growing pains.

Last night we exchanged some overalls that didn't fit John. She said he needed extra large with big belly size. He didn't think that was too funny.

Get Ready for 2006

Estelle is enjoying her short week back with George in the preschool where she went before Kindergarten. She goes back to school January 3. Just booked George's birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese for the 24th of January. We get extra tokens for doing it on a weeknight. Won't do it on his actual birthday because he has gymnastics that night. John is insistent that we're not allowing presents. Birthday parties are about having fun with your friends.

We haven't decided what if anything to do on New Year's Eve. Maybe we should go to a movie.

I'm starting to think about a trip to San Francisco in June - taking the kids. John also says he might go to a conference in Switzerland in August. Maybe I can go with since I haven't been there since 1979.
